Nestled between the <strong>Cordillera Blanca<\/strong> (the highest tropical mountain range in the world) and the <strong>Cordillera Negra<\/strong>, Huaraz is surrounded by glaciers, turquoise lakes, and snow-capped peaks.<\/p><p>The most famous hike is the <strong>Laguna 69 trek<\/strong> \u2014 a tough 4-5-hour ascent to 4,600 m (15,092 ft), but the payoff is unreal: an electric-blue lake framed by ice-covered mountains.
